Wollongong is one of the 10th largest city in Australia and 3rd largest city in New South Wales followed by Sydney and News Castle. The city is located along the coastal areas of the state, and lies on the IIIawarrra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean. The city is situated about 82 kilometers from the south of Sydney, which is the capital city of New South Wales. The city has an estimated population of around 3lakhs.
The city experiences a mild, and prevalently warm and temperate climate. The most interesting thing is that the city brings the rainfall even in the drier months. Moreover, the average annual temperature in Wollongong is nearly 20 deg celsius. The best time to visit this beautiful place in the months from January to April.

The transport system encompasses road transport, railways, Bus and Airways. Southern Highland ways used predominantly for freight, offering an important bypass for Sydney's congested rail network.
