The objective of the NT Writers is to encourage vibrant literary activity in the Northern Territory, as well as to develop and support writers in all genres at all stages of their careers. We value and assess quality NT writing as a unique component of Australia’s literary wealth and distinguish Indigenous writers and storytellers as a core component of this. Apart from these, the centre offer workshops, opportunities and showcase events across the NT including an annual Writer’s Festival.
NT Writers’ Festival is to announce the first line-up of writers. Bruce Pascoe is a Bunurong, Tasmanian and Yuin man based in Gipsy Point, remote corner of Gippsland in Victoria. He is the author of about 20 books. Fog a Dox, his young adult novel won the 2013 Prime Minister’s Young Adult fiction Award. Also, his non-fiction book (Dark Emu) won the Book of the Year, as well as the Indigenous Writer’s Prize in the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.
